Solving Incumbency

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!  It's the stuff elections are made of, but money is really the "Root of All Evil!"  As a result almost all politicians are bought and paid for and beholden to deep pocket contributors long before they are elected.  I am in favor of publicly funding all elections.  Select the top two opponents by virtue of the number of signatures they can get and then give each of them the same amount of money to run their campaigns. The cost would be a "drop in the bucket" compared to what  the IOUs are to be repaid once a person is in office.  It is very obvious that big contributors and lobbyists have almost unfettered and very unequal access to our elected representatives.  I remember reading a story wherein a person was in a meeting in the Oval Office with President Clinton when a call came in from Mr. Fanjul, the sugar baron in Florida.  President Clinton interrupted the meeting to take the call from Mr. Fanjul.  I don't think President Clinton would have interrupted the meeting to take my call!  I am certain the same scenario occurs all day every day with our elected Representatives and, as a result, we do not have representative government but rather an oligarchy run by wealthy individuals.

Marchin' & Cryin'

We just returned from the "March on Washington" which was a truly incredible experience.  It just reaffirmed what I already knew, that Americans are incredibly patriotic.  The very honorable and honest Washington Post reported that they estimated the crowd at "approximately 60,000." If you look up a picture of the crowd in the London Daily Mail you can see why they estimated the crowd at TWO MILLION!  The crowd completely filled the Mall between the Capitol and the Washington Monument!  We marched down Pennsylvania avenue to the Capitol, shoulder to shoulder, and completely filled Pennsylvania Avenue and shut it down for three and one-half hours as that is how long it took for all the Marchers to pass.  Watch C-Span at 8:00 tomorrow night (Monday) for the video on this incredible display of patriotism and the power of "We the People."  Nothing like this has ever happened in my lifetime.  The Marchers were singing "God Bless America" the "Star Spangled Banner", shouting "USA,USA", etc.  The overall theme that I took away from the March was the fervent belief by most of the crowd that Obama has extremely radical views that will seriously damage our Country.  Many of the Marchers were so overcome they were crying as they marched.  Don't ever believe that we will allow our beloved Country to be overthrown!

Putting Money in Everyone's Pocket

How would every citizen like to receive an extra $208 per month?  How would every couple with two children like to receive an extra $559 per month?  How would every citizen like to take home their entire paycheck with no deductions?  How would all businesses like to not have to pay taxes and not have to keep records for tax purposes?  The answer is the Fairtax.
If you threw a bunch of crazy people in a room and asked them to develop a tax system, I truly believe they would come up with a better system than the one we have.
The worst thing about our present tax system is that it tremendously hampers business productivity when we should have a tax system that does exactly the opposite.  Free enterprise is the lifeblood of our economy and hence our country.  We should be doing everything humanly possible to enhance business, but we instead seem intent on controlling and limiting our greatest asset.
Businesses hire people who in turn, with the proceeds of their paycheck, purchase goods, services and innovations.  Why in the world would our own government want to dramatically reduce our capabilities?
We need a tax system that is fair to all, especially business.  Businesses should not have to spend billions of dollars complying with an extremely complicated tax system nor should businesses make decisions solely based on the tax implications of those decisions.
I am totally in favor of the Fairtax proposal and legislation which would abolish the 16th Amendment  and insure that every single person in America pays taxes to support America.  The Fairtax would enhance the lives of every single American to a very significant degree.  Under the Fairtax, Americans would only pay taxes when they purchase an item or service.  Americans would no longer have to spend billions of manhours filing extremely complicated tax returns nor would they be possibly criminally liable for filing the returns wrong.
As far a enhancing prosperity, every single taxpayer would receive 100% of their earnings and receive a monthly check from the government to cover taxes paid on necessities.  This prebate is substantial.  A husband and wife with two children would receive a check each and every month for $559!
Let's face it, our current tax system is not about taxation it is about control.  Change this onerous tax system and every single American and every single American business will benefit greatly.

Balancing the Budget Thru Privatization

Privatization is the only way our country is ever going to balance the budget.  No one in government truly cares about reducing spending or balancing the budget as there is absolutely no incentive to do so.  The money that government collects is solely used to buy votes and insure re-election.  I propose that all of government be privatized with incentives.  Any Department Secretary, Congressman, Senator, etc. gets to keep ten percent of any savings realized from the previous year's budget.  This incentive will attract the very best and brightest from all over the United States as the potential to make millions, and even billions through effective management of government spending would be too hard to resist.  This would be a tremendous "Win-Win" scenario as our country would win, our government employees would win, and the American people would win.  Further, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security should all be privatized using insurance companies and wall street firms.  Currently, all of these programs lose billions and billions of dollars through fraud and inept management since government employees just do not care since it is not their money and they have "no skin in the game."  No private company in their right mind would allow billions of dollars to go down the drain.  Again, this would be a "Win-Win" change for everyone.
